6/16/11: Intermountain West RCFL Aids Homicide Investigation of Four–Year Old Ethan Stacy — Preliminary hearings were set for Nathaniel and Stephanie Sloop, who are accused of murdering Ethan Stacy, 4. Ethan's mother, Stephanie, and stepfather, Nathaniel waived their rights to a speedy trial and are charged with capital murder, child abuse and obstructing justice. The supported several area law enforcement agencies in search of the person who created a fake MySpace page featuring a juvenile girl seeking sexual liaisons with older men. James Henry Peavy, 62, was behind the hoax.

The suspects being held for the murder of Ethan Stacy, 4, his mother and stepfather, waived their rights to a speedy trial. Nathaniel and Stephanie Sloop are charged with capital murder, child abuse and obstructing justice. The Intermountain West RCFL (IWRCFL) is providing digital forensics expertise to investigators.
12/7/10: Disappearance of Utah Mom Marks One Year Anniversary
The Intermountain West RCFL is supporting the investigation of missing person Susan Powell. The mother of two was reported missing on December 7, 2009. Anyone with information should contact the West Valley City Police Department on 801-840-4000.
02/17/09: Intermountain West RCFL (IWRCFL) Supports Investigation Involving Sexual Exploitation
The Utah Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force arrested Jonathan Toole, 26, on suspicion of sexual exploitation and evading a police officer. Before being arrested, Toole attempted to evade police during a high-speed chase through a crowded residential area.

10/28/08: Forensics lab receives accreditation
Law enforcement's newest technology tool got a boost today. The regional computer forensics lab received international accreditation. The secure evidence room has shelves and shelves of computers, hard drives, cell phones, PDAs and video cameras. Any electronic tool connected to a crime is analyzed there.
10/28/08: Press Release The American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB)-International Program accredited the Intermountain West Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory (IWRCFL) in digital evidence-the 71st laboratory in the world to achieve this goal, and the first Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory to earn international accreditation.
